Santa Monica Pier

Santa Monica Pier - 10-15 minute walk from Mom's House
Santa Monica's trademark.

I usually go here about once a day when I'm there. We'll pass it on our way to other places and is centrally located related to a lot of other places we'll be going. This is a great place to enter the bike path that I have told you guys about. Also, they rent bikes and skates near here. You've probably seen this in a lot of famous movies and it is a great place for artsy photos. The bike path also has a walking path and is great for morning walks as well. We should also probably ride the ferris wheel at night at least once while we're here. Cost $3-$5 and is beautiful. And just to put into perspective-- this bike path takes us right to my sister's house.

Pacific Park[edit]

The pier contains Pacific Park, a family amusement park with the one of a kind, state of the art solar-paneled Ferris wheel. (This should not be confused with Pacific Ocean Park, a former amusement park a few miles south of Santa Monica Pier, which operated from 1958 to 1967 and is now demolished.)

Other attractions[edit]

It also has an original carousel hippodrome from the 1920s, the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium operated by Heal the Bay, shops, entertainers, a video arcade, a trapeze school, pubs, and restaurants. The west end of the pier is a popular location for anglers.
During the summer months the pier is venue to weekly outdoor concerts, movies, and other family friendly activities that are free to the public.
